The Zandmotor (Sandmotor) project in the Netherlands
Youtube - Sand Motor project explained
Concept - It relies on a "Building with Nature" approach, dumping a massive reserve of sand in one place and letting the wind, waves, and ocean currents naturally distribute it along the coastline over two decades.
Scale - Approximately 21.5 million cubic meters of sand were dredged offshore to form a hook shaped artificial peninsula covering about 128 hectacres (300 acres).
Dimensions - The peninsula originally protruded 1 kilometre into the North Sea and stretched 2 kilometres along the shoreline.
